ERROR MESAGGE:
“Unable to start mail session (reason: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SqlIMail.Server.Common.BaseException: Mail configuration information could not be read from the database. > System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: profile name is not valid”
EXPLANATION:
I saw a friend get this error and I wanted to archive it. My friend created a Mail Profile and Account. He says he can send test mail. However, he gets this error whenever he wants to use this account in SQL Server Agent.
I recommended that him to enable Mail Profile from the Alert System in the properties of the SQL Server Agent. He checked this, and this setting was complete. The solution of the problem is very interesting.
SOLUTION:
The person who is experiencing the problem said that he opened a “Case” to Microsoft.
As a solution they suggested:
– Disable Database Mail from the Surface Area Configuration,
– Stop and restart SQL Server Agent Service,
– Enable Database Mail from the Surface Area Configuration.
This is the solution and it worked.
It could be useful to you or me.
