{"id":10174,"date":"2019-03-08T22:09:56","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T22:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/?p=10174"},"modified":"2019-03-08T22:09:56","modified_gmt":"2019-03-08T22:09:56","slug":"ins-35354-error-received-when-runinstaller-is-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/08\/ins-35354-error-received-when-runinstaller-is-run\/","title":{"rendered":"INS-35354 error received when RunInstaller is run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On an Oracle RAC server, you may receive an error as follows when you want to create a new database with runinstaller.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>INS-35354: The System on Which you are Attempting to Install Oracle RAC is not Part of a Valid Cluster<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>There are two main reasons for this problem:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The database version you want to create may not be compatible with the grid infrastructure version installed. For example, if there is a 12.2.0.1 grid infrastructure, it will not install the database binary of 11.2.0.3 version. This applies only to RAC systems.<\/p>\n<p>The other reason is that there is no CRS = &#8220;true&#8221; in the corresponding row in the inventory.xml file for the current grid home. In this case, it is necessary to update grid home in the inventory.xml file to CRS = &#8220;true&#8221;. Instead of manually changing the inventory.xml, this should be done as follows. Otherwise, problems may occur.<\/p>\n<p>First, you need to detect the oraInventory directory. You can access this information from the \/etc\/oraInst.loc file.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">-bash-4.3$ cat \/etc\/oraInst.loc\ninventory_loc=\/u01\/app\/oraInventory\ninst_group=oinstall<\/pre>\n<p>The grid home, which is not CRS = &#8220;true&#8221; in the inventory.xml file, can be detected as follows.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">-bash-4.3$ cd \/u01\/app\/oraInventory\/ContentsXML\/\n-bash-4.3$ cat inventory.xml<\/pre>\n<p>For example, if a grid home with a value of LOC = &#8220;\/u01\/app\/11.2.0\/grid&#8221; is not CRS = &#8220;true&#8221;, it should be updated as follows.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">$GRID_HOME\/oui\/bin\/runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=\"\/u01\/app\/11.2.0\/grid\" CRS=true<\/pre>\n<p>You must do this on all nodes including RAC.<\/p>\n<p>Then open the inventory.xml file and check &#8220;CRS = true&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Database creation with RunInstaller will continue without any problem.
