These roles are the default server level roles at the instance level. You can find the brief description about these roles below.<\/p>\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
sysadmin<\/strong><\/td>\nsysadmins is the most authoritative user at Instance level. They can do everything.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
serveradmin<\/strong><\/td>\nserveradmins can change configuration at Instance level and turn off instance.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
securityadmin<\/strong><\/td>\nSecurity admins can manage the logins and reset their passwords, run “grant, deny, and revoke” commands at the instance level. They can also run “grant, deny, and revoke” commands on databases they have access to.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
processadmin<\/strong><\/td>\nprocessadmins can shut down a process on the instance.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
setupadmin<\/strong><\/td>\nsetupadmins can create and drop linked server using TSQL.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
bulkadmin<\/strong><\/td>\nbulkadmins can run “BULK INSERT” command.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
dbcreator<\/strong><\/td>\ndbcreators can create or restore databases, and modify and drop existing database.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
public<\/strong><\/td>\nEven if no privileges are granted to each login created, it is the default privilege granted initially.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n
