{"id":136,"date":"2018-06-03T22:49:52","date_gmt":"2018-06-03T22:49:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbtut.com\/?p=136"},"modified":"2019-03-25T19:25:06","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T19:25:06","slug":"how-to-mount-and-unmount-zfs-mount-points-on-exadata","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/03\/how-to-mount-and-unmount-zfs-mount-points-on-exadata\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Mount and Unmount ZFS Mount Points on Exadata"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before reading this article, you might want to read the article &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/dbtut.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/01\/how-to-create-a-filesystem-on-zfszfs-mount-point\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How To\u00a0Create a FileSystem on ZFS (Mount Point)<\/a>&#8221; to create a mount point on ZFS.<\/p>\n<p>If you already have a mount point, we first connect to a node on exadata to mount this mount point.<\/p>\n<h2>Configuring fstab:<\/h2>\n<p>We enter fstab with the command below.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">vi \/etc\/fstab<\/pre>\n<p>We need to add a line to the fstab to show the mount point we created on ZFS. Otherwise we can not mount the mount point.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">172.12.12.12:\/x\/text_mountpoint \/zfs\/test nfs rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,tcp,nfsvers=3,timeo=600 0 0<\/pre>\n<p>If you add the above script to fstab in your own servers without configuring, it will not work. First you need to configure the script with the parameters in your system.<\/p>\n<p>You must write the IP that connects to Exadata via ZFS instead of 172.12.12.12.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, you must first connect to ZFS and then click on the square in the following screenshot by finding the relevant EXADATA in the Interfaces section of the network-&gt; configuration tab as shown below.<\/p>\n<p>You should write this IP in the FSTAB where specified earlier.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/323.png\" width=\"704\" height=\"198\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then go to the shares from ZFS and find the mount point to mount.<\/p>\n<p>And write this mount point name instead of x\/text_mountpoint in the fstab.<\/p>\n<p>In the next section, we show which folder will be mounted on the node.<\/p>\n<p>In our example we showed \/zfs\/test.<\/p>\n<h2>How To Mount a Mount Point<\/h2>\n<p>Create this folder with the help of the command below. Do not forget configuring fstab which I have mentioned at the beginning of the article.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">mkdir -p \/zfs\/test<\/pre>\n<p>Grant the permissions with the command below.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">chown oracle:oinstall \/zfs\/test\/\nchmod 755 \/zfs\/test\/<\/pre>\n<p>Mount it with the following command.<\/p>\n<pre>mount \/zfs\/test\/<\/pre>\n<p>Lastly use df -h to see if it is mounted.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">df -h<\/pre>\n<h2>How To Unmount a Mount Point<\/h2>\n<p>With the <code>umount \/zfs\/test\/<\/code> command, we can unmount and than delete the folder.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">umount \/zfs\/test\/<\/pre>\n<p>During the unmount operation you can receive a &#8220;device is busy&#8221; error. I told you how to resolve this error in the article named &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/dbtut.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/09\/device-is-busy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">device is busy<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>After unmounting the mount point, we must comment it with # in fstab.
