Then we will send a dummy data from logstash to elasticsearch running on the server with the IP address 10.250.2.221, which we have previously installed. Finally, we will check that this data has been successfully indexed on elasticsearch.<\/p>\n<p>The installation of Logstash is quite simple, which is very similar to the elasticsearch installation steps we installed earlier. Let&#8217;s start the installation of logstash right away.<\/p>\n<h3>Preparations<\/h3>\n<p>First of all, let&#8217;s check the version and ip address of the server we are on;<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">root@logstash:~# cat \/etc\/issue.net\nroot@logstash:~# ifconfig\n<\/pre>\n<p id=\"xjZoyfY\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"625\" height=\"364\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16101  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/img_5f2911b242b90.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>We need java for Logstash to work. (Since we made our installations according to 6 versions, pay attention whether you add the correct repo or not.)<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">root@logstash:~# wget -qO \u2013 https:\/\/artifacts.elastic.co\/GPG-KEY-elasticsearch | sudo apt-key add \u2013\nroot@logstash:~# echo \u201cdeb https:\/\/artifacts.elastic.co\/packages\/6.x\/apt stable main\u201d | sudo tee -a \/etc\/apt\/sources.list.d\/elastic-6.x.list<\/pre>\n<p id=\"ikthvyN\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16103  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/img_5f29125a4f196.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"809\" height=\"64\"><\/p>\n<h3>Install Logstash on Ubuntu<\/h3>\n<p>Now we can install logstash.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">root@logstash:~# apt-get update &amp;&amp; apt-get install logstash<\/pre>\n<p id=\"UgwpDRv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16104  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/img_5f2912aee170b.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"829\" height=\"293\"><\/p>\n<p>Before starting logstash service, let&#8217;s manually send a dummy data from logstash to elasticsearch running on port 9200 of 10.250.2221 ip address and observe that this data is indexed in elasticsearch.<\/p>\n<p>Logstash was installed under the logstash \/usr\/share\/logstash directory. Let&#8217;s go here manually and check our dummy data send to elasticsearch.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">root@logstash:~# cd \/usr\/share\/logstash\/\nroot@logstash:\/usr\/share\/logstash# bin\/logstash -e \u2018input { stdin { } } output { elasticsearch { hosts =&gt; [\u201c10.250.2.221:9200\u201d] } }\u2019<\/pre>\n<p id=\"wyHQmKW\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"677\" height=\"232\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16105  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/img_5f291371aaf73.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s run the following command by connecting to elasticsearch to see dummy data we sent over logstash is indexed in the logstash index on elasticsearch.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">root@elastic:~# curl http:\/\/10.250.2.221:9200\/logstash-*\/_search?pretty=true<\/pre>\n<p id=\"bQBjPso\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"635\" height=\"613\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16106  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/img_5f291470d427b.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>We successfully sent data to elastcisearch manually via logstash.
