{"id":53423,"date":"2022-12-19T17:31:28","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T17:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/?p=53423"},"modified":"2022-12-19T17:35:27","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T17:35:27","slug":"data-pump-architecture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/index.php\/2022\/12\/19\/data-pump-architecture\/","title":{"rendered":"Data Pump Architecture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In today&#8217;s article, we will be learning about Oracle Data Pump Architecture.<\/p>\n<p>It has 4 important components.<\/p>\n<p>-expdp (export data pump)<\/p>\n<p>-impdp (import data pump)<\/p>\n<p>-DBMS_DATAPUMP (Oracle&#8217;s internal package)<\/p>\n<p>-DBMS_METADATA (Oracle&#8217;s internal package)<\/p>\n<p>Expdp and impdp tools use DBMS_DATAPUMP and DBMS_METADATA packages in the background<\/p>\n<p>When we start the export\/import process with Data Pump, a process called ora_dmNN_&lt;DatabaseSID&gt; is started on the server where our database is located.<\/p>\n<p>This process acts as the master process.<\/p>\n<p>Worker processes are activated depending on the processing load and parallelism.<\/p>\n<p>Worker processes work depending on the master process.<\/p>\n<p>Worker processes run on the server where our database is located, with the name ora_dw_NN_&lt;DatabaseSID&gt;.<\/p>\n<p>During the export process, we can see the processes starting with ora_dm and ora_dw in the linux operating system processes on which our database is running.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \"># ps -ef | grep ora_d\r\n<\/pre>\n<p id=\"JSOTeYx\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"656\" height=\"184\" class=\"size-full wp-image-53424 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/img_63a09d6de6ad6.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When a user initiates an export or import operation with Data Pump, a status table is created under his own schema.<\/p>\n<p>The name of this table is SYS_OPERATION_&lt;JOB_MODU&gt;_NN.<\/p>\n<p>Here;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TRANSACTION:<\/strong> Indicates what the transaction (export or import) is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JOB_MODU:<\/strong> Specifies whether the size of the data to be moved is full (all data), schema, table or tablespace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NN:<\/strong> A number generated so that the table name of the same transactions started at the same time as the user is unique.<\/p>\n<p>With this table, we can access detailed data about exported\/imported data.<\/p>\n<p>The status table is automatically deleted when the Data Pump operation is successful.<\/p>\n<p>If the Data Pump process terminates incorrectly, the table is not automatically deleted.
