I named this file &#8220;orclScript&#8221;.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">#!\/bin\/sh\r\n\r\n## It is assumed that your database installation user is oracle\r\n\r\ncase \"$1\" in\r\n'start')\r\nsu oracle -c \"\/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/startup.sh &gt;&gt; \/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/orclScript.log 2&gt;&amp;1\" &amp;\r\n\r\ntouch \/var\/lock\/subsys\/orclScript\r\n;;\r\n'stop')\r\nsu oracle -c \"\/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/shutdown.sh &gt;&gt; \/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/orclScript.log 2&gt;&amp;1\"\r\nrm -f \/var\/lock\/subsys\/orclScript\r\n;;\r\nesac<\/pre>\n<p>Give chmod 750 to this file.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">chmod 750 \/etc\/init.d\/orclScript\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Add orclScript service to chkconfig.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">chkconfig --add orclScript<\/pre>\n<p>This script runs startup and shutdown scripts. So let&#8217;s create this two scripts with oracle database OS user. Put this scripts under &#8220;dbscripts&#8221; directory.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \"># su - oracle\r\n$ mkdir dbscripts<\/pre>\n<p>Now let&#8217;s create our startup and shutdown scripts.<\/p>\n<p>\/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/startup.sh<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">#!\/bin\/bash\r\n\r\n. \/home\/oracle\/.orcl\r\n\r\n# Start Listener\r\nlsnrctl start\r\n\r\n# Start Database\r\nsqlplus \/ as sysdba &lt;&lt; EOF\r\nSTARTUP;\r\nEXIT;\r\nEOF<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/shutdown.sh<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">#!\/bin\/bash\r\n\r\n. \/home\/oracle\/.orcl\r\n\r\n# Stop Database\r\nsqlplus \/ as sysdba &lt;&lt; EOF\r\nSHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;\r\nEXIT;\r\nEOF\r\n\r\n# Stop Listener\r\nlsnrctl stop<\/pre>\n<p>We must give execution permission to these scripts.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">$ chmod u+x \/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/startup.sh \/home\/oracle\/dbscripts\/shutdown.sh<\/pre>\n<p>Our database will start when our server is started.
