Configuration Changes in file &#8220;<span style=\"color: #333300;\">pg_hba.conf<\/span>&#8221; Make an entry for replication user with Slave server IP:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">host\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 replication\u00a0\u00a0 postgres\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SLAVE_SERVER_IP\/32 \u00a0 trust<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/687.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Restart the PostgreSQL service in Primary for changes to get impact:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">pg_ctl -D \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data\/ restart (as postgres user)<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Slave Server\/ Secondary Server Set Up<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.Stop the PostgreSQL service in slave server if running.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">pg_ctl -D \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1\/ stop (as postgres user)<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Delete Or Rename the existing data directory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">mv \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1 \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1_old<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/701.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Create new data directory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">mkdir \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1\/<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/444.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.Change owner of newly created data directory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">chown postgres:postgres \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1\/<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/299.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Give read, write, execute permission to only postgres user.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">chmod 700 \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1\/<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/444.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Execute pg_basebackup utility in slave server as postgres user.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">pg_basebackup -U postgres -h MASTER-SERVER-IP -p 5432 -D \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1\/ -R<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/696.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. After backup completion, create or edit &#8220;<span style=\"color: #333300;\">recovery.conf<\/span>&#8221; file.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">standby_mode=on\r\nprimary_conninfo = 'user=postgres host=MASTER-SERVER-IP port=5432'\r\nrecovery_target_timeline = 'latest'<\/pre>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/476.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Start the PostgreSQL service in Slave server.<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">pg_ctl -D \/usr\/local\/pgsql\/data1\/ start (as postgres user)<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.
