In such a case, we need to find out if there is a session in the database. We can find out if there is a session in the database by using the Extended Events.<\/p>\n<p>Right click on Session in Management-&gt; Extended Events on SSMS and click on the New Session Wizard.<\/p>\n<p id=\"hikCcZV\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"324\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9480  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/img_5c66781671eab.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the next screen we give a name to the session as follows. I do not select start at event session at server startup. Because I don&#8217;t want this session to start automatically when the server starts. Click Next to proceed. On the next screen, select &#8220;Do not use template&#8221; and click next.<\/p>\n<p id=\"wVIRNsr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9482  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/img_5c66783667f33.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"719\" height=\"363\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the screen that appears, write &#8220;completed&#8221; in the &#8220;Event Library&#8221; section, and select the following events by double-clicking.<\/p>\n<p>The selected events will be listed in the selected events section. Click Next to proceed.<\/p>\n<p id=\"jtLIpUQ\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9484  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/img_5c66785739d5b.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"741\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the next screen, select the following options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Client hostname<\/li>\n<li>Client app name<\/li>\n<li>Database name<\/li>\n<li>Sql text<\/li>\n<li>User name<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the next screen we will create the filter as below.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mfEhwYW\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9486  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/img_5c66788a6cd89.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"734\" height=\"88\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You may not see every condition in here, but you can see every condition after you create the extended event session.<\/p>\n<p>You can filter by the following way after you create Extended Event Session.<\/p>\n<p>Right-click on Session and click Properties. Then add filters by clicking Configure on Events.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to create a filter after you create the Extended Events Session, you must set a separate filter for each of the selected events.<\/p>\n<p id=\"EVdbhiV\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9488  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/img_5c6678b1299fb.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"757\" height=\"294\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the next screens, click next next and finish to complete the process. Then start the session as follows.<\/p>\n<p id=\"BkFuMUe\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9490  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dbtut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/img_5c6678d362252.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"527\" height=\"161\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Right-click on the session and click &#8220;Watch live data&#8221; to see if there is a session in the database. If no records return, this means that the database is not being used. But to make sure the database is not being used, you need to keep this session open for a while.
