RMAN-06091: No Channel Allocated For Maintenance

In today’s article, I will share the solution of the error given below when the delete obsolete command is run.

Error:

RMAN-06091 no channel allocated for maintenance (of an appropriate type)</span></em></span>

RMAN> crosscheck backup;RMAN> delete obsolete;

RMAN-06091 no channel allocated for maintenance (of an appropriate type)

Before deleting crosscheck and backups, the channel must be allocated for maintenance.

Then we can delete obsolete backups as follows.

RMAN> allocate channel for maintenance device type disk;

RMAN> delete obsolete device type disk;

RMAN> allocate channel for maintenance device type disk;

RMAN> delete obsolete device type disk;
