In today’s article, we will talk about the Userprefsxmlstore Access Denied error.

While working with Oracle BI, the language encoding of a user connecting to analytics services is normally selected automatically according to the browser language.

However, in some cases, if the user wants to change the interface language, he may get an error.

If you are getting the following error;

“Exception occured when saving user preferences to the catalog access denied for user to path /users//_prefs/userprefsxmlstore

What you need to do;

For Windows –

C:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreappli
cation_obips1\catalog\SampleAppLite\root\users\

For Linux –

application_obips1\catalog\SampleAppLite\root\users\

Go to the directory and delete the current folder and the file ending with .ht for whichever user you are getting error. After restarting the BI services, your problem will be solved.
